5 great tips to vibe up your boring work-life

October 12, 2024

Your Career life doesn’t have to be cliche and boring; you can hit your goals and stand out while at it.

To start with, let’s just pretend taking “summer” holidays from work is a norm, and that this article is my summer present to you.

Your career life should be one of the highlights of the many years you have to live on earth, and you should make the best of it. There’s more to work than spending your daily 9-5 at a work desk, sending and receiving emails, giving reports, and getting paid at the end of the month. At CareerBuddy, we are always excited about work and there’s never a dull moment. I, for one, get anxious when it’s almost 5 pm. And the weekend? The absolute ghetto!

Words on this corporate street reveal the constant fatigue and exhaustion that comes with being a Nigerian employee, which is why I’m sharing five tips that would help you spice up your work life.

Heads Up: Whatever happens at the end of this, leave me out of it; they’re just ideas, not instructions.

5 great tips to vibe up your boring work life

  1. Return your salary at the end of this month:

Relax, I will explain. It’s not just returning it, make sure you request that the money be sent to your HR’s account. There’s always a point where we tell ourselves we deserve a raise, but how about you give your boss a raise? Nothing makes work life more heavenly than doing what no man can do. Who knows, there might just be a boomerang -the HR might just be provoked to promote you to the CEO next quarter!

2. Give the CEO a query:

Talking about CEOs, be honest; how do you feel sometimes when resuming 9:01 can earn you a “kindly find attached”, while your boss can walk in at 12:30 without any questioning? “They’ve paid their dues and they own the company”,  even though! even though! Plus, your co-workers might not be able to air their concerns about office politics and toxicity, why not show your leadership qualities and take the lead? One move from you and everyone else will be confident enough to call out the injustice at the office. The toxic CEO could be dethroned and the people will crown you Chief Executive Officer in the twinkling of an eye.

3. Offer to help your colleagues do their work:

Let me paint the full picture; you have your own to-do list, but you should leave it and go help your co-workers finish theirs. Try it out and come back to give reports of how you won “employee of the year” three times in a month. And in case you don’t know, a selfless person is someone who thinks of others before themselves. What other explanation do you need? But if you choose to be selfish, it’s fine, I get.

4. Skip work days and show up at weekends:

The goal is to spice up work-life, and you can only do that by standing out among the crowd. Moreover, imagine the peace and quiet you’d get while working in the office on a Saturday and Sunday. It’s not by how many days you show up at the office, it’s by what you can achieve within a short time.

5. Pepper them with the CareerBuddy Merch:

We launched our brand merch yesterday and it’s all shades of awesome. The beautiful thing about this is that you carry the vibes with you everywhere -at work, at home, in traffic, in the restroom, and everywhere. Do you want to strut down your estate or office aisle while making a loud statement without effort? Or do you want to shake tables and start peaceful vawulence without sweat? You should make your orders and flaunt them!
