7 Linkedin Message Templates to use in 2023

February 20, 2023

85% of LinkedIn messages get a response. In comparison to email response rates, this is three times higher. You probably have a few folks you’d love to get in touch with, connect with, and include in your circle. LinkedIn is one of the quickest ways to reach them. It is important to note, though, that the quality of the content of your message has a great influence on whether or not you get a reply. This article gives you 7 Linkedin message templates to reach out to a potential network in 2023.

Points to note when sending a message to a cold contact

  1. Do more than salutation: Stop entering DMs with only “hi”, “hey”, or other sloppy greetings and then wait for a response.

  2. Introduce yourself: Give a short, relevant introduction: “My name is Grace James, an Economics graduate of Bowen University… Establish common grounds and connections. If you met at an event, try to reach out almost immediately. They are more likely to remember you and accept your invitation to connect that way.

  3. Do a background check: You should find out about their areas of interest and their occupation(s). Ensure to read their articles. If they have a website, go there. Being well informed about a person will enable you to drive a good conversation with them.

  4. Engage the person: Grab their attention by talking about their “work” in an engaging way. You can ask a question about something they didn’t mention when you met them. You should steer the conversation toward your areas of common interest. The more common interests you establish, the stronger the connection.

  5. No one owes you a response: If they respond, good; if they don’t, move on! You could do a polite follow-up. You can also try reaching out on other social media platforms, as you cannot tell his or her preferred platform. If, after a reminder, they don’t respond, rest!
