How Good is Your Brand Reputation?

A while ago, we discussed employer branding and its importance for startups. It’s great to see that more startups are becoming intentional about it, and I wanted to bring it back to your attention because it can significantly reduce your recruitment cost.

If you’ve ever walked into a grocery store and saw a new brand of milk on the rack, and you notice that it’s slightly cheaper than your usual option, but you haven’t heard anything about the brand. Would you take a look? Would you buy it? This same principle applies to job seekers who haven’t heard about your company.

Employer branding is crucial because it can attract top talent and reduce turnover. According to various statistics, active job seekers are more likely to apply for a job if the employer actively manages its employer brand. Additionally, candidates identify a company’s reputation as a key consideration when exploring new career opportunities.

The most important fact about employer branding is that you already have a brand, whether you work on it or not. People already perceive your brand in a certain way, so it’s essential to take charge and control the narrative.

Here are some tips to get you started:

  • First, assess where you’re at right now

Ask your current employees what they think about your brand, and how you can make them even prouder to work there.

Then,

  • Create your Employer Value Proposition (EVP)

This is like your brand’s promise to candidates and employees, so make sure it’s clear and compelling.

And finally,

  • Be intentional about the candidate’s experience

Remember, it’s not an employer’s market anymore – candidates are picky, and they’ll drop out of the hiring process if they smell anything fishy. So, make sure your career page is killer, your job descriptions are on point (here are templates that can help you get started), and your interview process is smooth sailing.

Oh, and one more thing –

  • Don’t forget to add some personality to your brand!

Nobody wants to work for a boring company. So, show off your quirks, your culture, and your values. Make people want to be a part of your team.

And, if you’re still feeling lost, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered! This June, we will be hosting the second edition of the WorkShift with CareerBuddy –

and it’s going to cover everything you need to get started building an amazing employer brand that attracts the best of the best.

Yet to secure yourself a seat? You don’t want to miss out on this one.

Why Candidates Keep Rejecting Your Job Offers

In the hiring process, when a candidate abruptly withdraws without explanation or notice, it’s referred to as “ghosting.” This term is commonly associated with the dating scene but has become a prevalent and costly issue in recruiting. According to this LinkedIn poll, 95% of recruiters have experienced being ghosted.

While it may not be entirely preventable, there are measures that companies can take to reduce the likelihood of a candidate withdrawing mid-process. But first, why would a candidate ghost you?
